When will I be paid?

Salaries are paid on the last Friday of each month in the month following the completion of a job. For example, if you work in May, you will be paid on the last Friday of June.

Will I need to stay away from home?

As a rule you are not required to but there may be occasions when we ask some staff if they are happy to. All such cases will be negotiated as they arise.

How will I be paid?

If you have given us your bank account details, you will be paid directly into your bank account. If not, you will receive a cheque. In either case you will receive a wage slip in the post confirming your earnings and expenses.

I am prepared to work in London. Will you pay my expenses from Liverpool?

Unless specifically agreed with you at the time you are selected, the answer to that is no. All such cases will be negotiated as they arise.

I am self employed (or Schedule D); can I just send you an invoice?

The Inland Revenue has stipulated that promotional work cannot be assessed under self employment/ Schedule D and must be taxed on a PAYE (pay as you earn) basis. We can only accept invoices from you if you are a limited company.

How much will I be paid per day?

Jobs vary in complexity and duration but our standard rates are available on request. We do occasionally have extended hours of work and these will be negotiated at the time.

I am a student, why have I been taxed?

Students who only work during holiday time can complete form P38(S) and will not need to be taxed. Students who work during term time are not able to do this, however there is another option.

If we are your only or main employer, you can complete form P46 and we will be able to use a tax code which allows you to earn £400 approx per month before paying tax.

If you work for many agencies / employers then we have to deduct tax at basic rate (22%) and you will have to claim back any overpaid tax at the end of the tax year (5th April).

How often do I need to phone with my availability?

You may call the office as often as you like but once a fortnight should be sufficient.

When will I receive my P60?

P60’s are a notice of monies earned and tax and national insurance paid, in a given tax year. By law they must be sent out by May 31st but we are usually able to send them out at the end of April.

Do I have to pay a registration fee?

No there is absolutely no registration fee to pay.

I’ve lost my P60, can I have a copy?

P 60’s cannot be reprinted but we can send you a letter detailing the amounts you have earned and the tax and national insurance you have paid in a given tax year.

Do I need to attend a face to face interview?

Often no, but there are times, (when selecting for certain types of very high profile activity for example), that we would need to see you first.

Will you only offer me work in my normal place of residence?

No, in fact on the contrary…where you are able to commit to it, we will offer you work wherever you have accommodation (family, friends, term time, non-term time etc).

Why do you need a photograph of me?

There are a number of reasons not least of which is, “it is good to put a face to a name”. There are occasions when we are unable to meet the people who work for us as soon as we would like…not the way we would choose to have it but it comes with the territory…and so a photograph helps.

We are however selecting people based on our clients’ requirements and the different types of activity that we do for them. To that end we need to make sure (as far as we can) that people are suitable for the task they are going to be employed to do…and sometimes that is based, at least in part, on their appearance.

Additionally, our clients do sometimes ask to see photographs of the staff that have been selected.

Do you issue P45s?

If we are informed that someone no longer wishes to be considered for work by us and they require a P45, we will happily issue one.

What kind of references do you need? Do they have to be work ones?

References should be from someone who knows you well enough to act as a referee. They must be resident in the UK and be a former employer, tutor or someone from a professional background, e.g. policeman, teacher, magistrate or doctor etc.

May I obtain a reference from you or use you as a referee?

We are delighted to provide any one who works for us with an appropriate reference based on their track record with us.
